Developing 2,000 Acres in the middle of DFW
Huffines Communities to turn Arlington property into a green mixed-use new urbanism community, Viridian.

ARLINGTON, TX - November 15, 2007: Located just south of the DFW Airport, Viridian is the last remaining large tract of land in the City of Arlington. The 2,000-acre riverfront property will be transformed into a vibrant, sustainable residential community with 500,000 square feet of office and 200,000 square feet of retail and an estimated value of $1.5 billion. Viridian is one of the largest “infill” developments in the U.S. and certainly the greenest with over 1,100 acres of open space, lakes and wetlands.

Huffines Communities, well known for constructing imaginative and fun communities, is excited to announce that world-renowned town planner, Peter Calthorpe from California, leads a design team consisting of the nation's best environmentalists and landscape architects. “With all these superior brains working on this community, Viridian unquestionably will be both breathtakingly beautiful and unique, a future national landmark,” according to Bob Kembel, President of Huffines Communities.

“We view this as an incredible opportunity to create a green environment within the city of Arlington that provides an important connection with nature, plus all the advantages that come with a small-town life. The foundation for the lifestyle of residents and employers is based on the principles of sustainability and new urbanism.”

Viridian's premier location, just west of Highway 360 and two miles north of I-30 on Collins Boulevard puts it only minutes to the airport, Six Flags, the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium, restaurants and entertainment venues. It is also adjacent to the beautiful River Legacy Park with 12.8 miles of nature and jogging trails.
