Providence Elementary Rated “Exemplary”

Providence Elementary School recently received the highest rating of "Exemplary" as reported by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Data posted by the TEA tracts academic achievement of school campuses statewide. Providence Elementary was the only Denton Independent School District (DISD) campus that received an exemplary rating out of all twenty-nine DISD campus locations.

Susan Bolte, Principal of Providence Elementary stated, "We are very proud of our staff and students. This was a goal of ours. We always stay very cognizant of the state TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills ) and work closely with each student to help them set personal goals. It's great when it all comes together." This achievement is clearly a success not only for the school as a whole, but for the individual students. The setting of personal goals and working toward the individual academic success of each student is the major focus at Providence Elementary. As the school begins its fourth year, they look forward to a bright future continuing in this philosophy that has worked so well so far. "What I would like to say to all of our students," says Ms. Bolte, "is that by working hard, setting personal goals and taking pride in your work, good things happen."

To gain "Exemplary" status, a campus must have received a 90 percent passage rate in all accountability areas. The Providence Elementary campus scored  - 98% reading, 97% writing, 97% math, 93% science, 90% SDAA with 12 TAKS accountability groups.

The local campus has an enrollment of approximately 775 students, their school colors are red, white, and blue, and the Patriot is their mascot. Their motto/mission statement is representative of their exemplary rating - "Taking Pride in Education."

The exemplary rating places Providence Elementary at the top in the DFW Region and in the State of Texas. There are 1905 campuses in the DFW Region; only 190 received the highest rating of exemplary, placing Providence Elementary in the top 10% of all schools. Statewide, Providence Elementary ranked in the top 8% of all schools.

Residents in Providence Village are extremely proud that the local campus continues to exemplify the best in education. The families in the community know how important it is to have such a highly recognized campus. Please take the time to express your sincere appreciation for their achievement. DISD, the local school staff, and the students should be recognized for their exemplary rating because it is a great example of them surpassing their motto of ‘Pride in Education’.

We are all proud of you - way to go Patriots!
